Consulting and projects.

Flexible, ‘by-the-hour’ support to your not-for-profit’s finance team: the expertise of a Chartered Accountant provided via an agreed daily or hourly rate, with consideration given to your entity’s unique needs, circumstances and financial position.

Quotes can be provided for consulting and project work in a range of areas including:

  • In respect of internal finances — management accounts format design, review of existing presentation, with the aim of increasing the visibility the Board has over finances. Design of methodologies for forecasting, budgeting, monitoring of spend against budget. Implementation of new accounting systems, design of charts of accounts, support with transitions from one system or approach to another.

  • For donor compliance and other stakeholders — development of methods for accurate reporting of finances or outcomes which are relevant to donors. In respect of restricted fund accounting, working and consulting with your charity to identify the most efficient and least time-consuming and least error-prone approach. So donors are in receipt of timely information on how their funds are being used.

  • For sound controls and reduced fraud risk — design of internal controls for reducing the risk of inappropriate expenditure or misappropriation of funds. Assistance with developing internal control environments over time for newer entities, or enhancing more established ones. Drafting internal reference documents, policies and procedures manuals to formalise set approaches. Creation of similar resources for use by your organisation’s partners or beneficiaries.

  • For insight — collation and analysis of interesting data, regarding financial activity, position, financial efficiency, and benchmarking against equivalent data for comparable entities. Assistance in developing or enhancing tools for monitoring outcomes and impact.
